Steven Moffat well and truly blew our minds with tonight’s climactic Series 9 finale, Hell Bent, but at least he’s gracious enough to give us three weeks off to recover, eh?

Doctor Who will be back with a vengeance on Christmas Day as our hero faces The Husbands of River Song in his eleventh annual festive escapade to date (and his second looking like Peter Capaldi, for those who like to be pedantic). As its title suggests, the yuletide adventure also marks the return of Alex Kingston as River Song who will come face to face with her old beau on a starliner full of super-villains.

Well, it is Christmas. And now that we have been treated to the first trailer, the countdown can officially begin! OK, so it had already begun, but who’s complaining?! The Husbands of River Song airs on Christmas Day at 5:15pm on BBC One, and we can hardly wait already!
