Specials soundtrack release pushed back to October
Silva Screen have confirmed that the release of the forthcoming Doctor Who Specials soundtrack has unfortunately been pushed back to October 4th 2010.
Originally set to be released later this month, the long-awaited 2-disc set will feature music from the Tenth Doctor’s final specials. Series composer Murray Gold has teased: “This collection is a bit different to the previous releases on Silva Screen. It’s a double CD, of course, and the tracks are drawn from four stories.”
He continued: “Previously a single episode has had, at most, three tracks. This time, we linger somewhat longer, and there’s perhaps more a sense of passage through the stories. In some ways, it’s a more conventional soundtrack, with less zipping about through styles. We could have compressed everything onto a single disc, but Silva Screen offered to put out a double. It seemed the better route.”
In addition, it has been revealed that fans who buy the album on iTunes will be treated to 2 exclusive tracks, The Cyberleader Runs Amok and Never Too Old To Shoot And Fly.
A Series 5 soundtrack is currently scheduled to be released on November 8th 2010.
I think that it should been stay on 20th stepember and add the track when the tracks come out
Grr… It’s like those who want to buy the physical CD are being punished not getting 2 tracks. I understand it’s an amazon exclusive, but it seems like a great big money making scheme. I’m disappointed.

Oh, I hate that too. As a music fan, I think it’s just completely unfair that those who like their CD collections don’t get the extra tracks. Normally you can’t even buy them separately as they’re listed as ‘album only’.
Ugh I was waiting for it so badly and now we gotta wait another month..
@Sean
It *is* a great big money making scheme. If people didn’t want to make money off Doctor Who the BBC would make the TV show and nothing else
Amazon are very good at money making scams… I was looking at the price of Guitar hero-warriors of rock on amazon and accidentally ended up on the American site. There you get a free My Chemical Romance guitar strap…. GRR!!!
To be honest though: I would go with iTunes’ rip-off price just to get those two extra tracks ;D
