Episode titles for Series 6 US two-parter confirmed!
Episodes one and two of Series 6 of Doctor Who have been named as The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon!
The titles were confirmed by BBC News Entertainment Correspondent Lizo Mzimba earlier today, when he tweeted about receiving his invitation for the press screening of the episodes. The episodes will form the opening US two-parter, in which the Doctor, Amy and Rory find themselves on a secret summons that takes them on an adventure from the Utah desert to the Oval Office in 1969.
What do you think of the titles? As always, share your thoughts in the comments below!
Series 6 will debut in the US on Saturday 23rd April, and is expected to air in the UK from the same day. Join our ongoing Silences, Rivers and Songs discussion!
I think they’re cool.
the impossible astronaut just reminded me of the title the impossible planet.
Day of the moon sounds cool.
They are certainly intriguing titles.
These sound like ambitious openers for S6.
The excitement for the new series is growing by the day. Can’t wait!
The impossible astronaut sounds FAR too much like the impossible planet. But night of the moon gives a really cool,epic feel.
Sweet!! Really like Day of the Moon! Will definitely be tuning in! ;)
OMG the impossible Astronaut?! That means in the trailer
That astronaut pointing at the camera must be in that episode..and I swear the background looks like that giant dolls house they are in which is apparently scarier than the weeping angels…0_o must be the scary ones!! Can’t wait!!!!!! :D :D :) :P :) :P ;) ;)
I’m with everyone else – I prefer “Day of the Moon” to “The Impossible Astronaut”. But anyway – 1969, anyone? I’m imagining “1969, funny year that one, I got stuck.” And gotta be careful not to run into himself and Martha – after all, they went four times, didn’t they?
Yes, “The Impossible Astronaut” reminds me, of course, of “The Impossible Planet”. It’s also interesting to note the scene in the Series 6 trailer in which Amy has all that writing/markings on her face, reminiscent of what was seen in “Impossible Planet/Satan Pit”. Could the Demon/Daemon be behind the Silence/Silents which will fall?
Ooooh, I’m getting so excited!
I don’t see what the big deal is that the title shares two words with that of an earlier episode. How about “The Seeds of Death” and “The Seeds of Doom”? or “R——— of the Daleks” of which there were 3? That’s like complaining that “The Impossible Planet”‘ is too close to “The Mysterious Planet” from 1986.
There is also rumour that the opening two-parter will be shown on the same easter weekend. Thats why the media are getting invited to see both episodes, and not just one episode as normal. Just rumour though.
The Day of the Moon hmmmmmm interesting kinda makes me think back to Silence in the Library, River Song and Doctor Moon and the Moon that was always in the sky a connection possible, cause SM has said before that all the clues to who River is go way back to those first two episodes ‘the clues are there’ (I say in my David Frost voice lol) x x x
I still think the Ood have something to do with the opening episodes
Is River Song in This
1969 is the year of the first moon landing, i.e day of the moon.
@Professor Zed
This isnt going to happen but what if:
THE IMPOSSIBLE ASTRONAUT WAS TOBY ZED!
@Kane
Yes she is, Kane :)
@The Silence
I LOVE IT! And that would explain seeing Amy with all those markings in the trailer. And the Ood. Hey, maybe it is possible!
@TSG
Well, I dont think Im the first person to say that the Silence MAY have some link to the beast. Very much doubt it though
