This week’s issue of Radio Times includes a new interview with Steven Moffat, in which he reveals that the Daleks “aren’t going to make an appearance for a while”.
The news has led to a lot of discussion among fans, mostly because – as Steven notes – they are “the most famous of the Doctor’s adversaries”, so is it right that they should have a break from the series? The showrunner now feels that they have become too “reliably defeatable” as a result of being overthrown by the Doctor on countless occasions.
Do you agree? Would the series benefit from some Dalek downtime, or does it depend on their exterminating ways? Let us know by voting in the poll and have your say below!
It features Karen Gillan, Steven Moffat, Alex Kingston and Arthur Darvill discussing the long awaited episode, which airs on Saturday at 6:40pm on BBC One.
It’s certainly going to be one to remember, as River Song acknowledges that the time to reveal her most closely guarded secret to the Doctor has come at last…

Radio Times have dedicated their cover to the mid-series finale, A Good Man Goes to War, this week, and it’s an absolute cracker!
Inside the issue, which is out today, there’s an exclusive interview with Steven Moffat, in which he comments on the nature of cliffhangers and also discusses the Daleks. “They aren’t going to make an appearance for a while,” he says. “We thought it was about time to give them a rest. There’s a problem with the Daleks. I thought they were invincible.”
He continues: “They’re the most famous of the Doctor’s adversaries and the most frequent. Which means they’re the most reliably defeatable enemies in the universe. They have been defeated by the Doctor about 400 times. Surely they should just see the TARDIS approaching, say, ‘Oh. It’s him again’, and trudge away.”
You can read his full interview in this week’s Radio Times. Check out its cover below…
What do you think of the cover and of Steven’s comments? Are you glad to hear that the Daleks are taking a break? Have your say below! Thanks to Radio Times for the details.

According to the Guardian, it was “one of the most staggering reveals” in the history of the series, though they say the episode itself felt “a bit uneven”.
Meanwhile, the Telegraph have praised writer Matthew Graham for delivering a “taut, claustrophobic, sci-fi thriller”, and SFX have given the “predictable” episode a rating of 3/5.
