Plans are already underway for the 50th anniversary in 2013, and Matt Smith has recently revealed that he’d like to see the Doctor quite literally enter a new dimension as part of the celebrations!

As the Metro.co.uk reports, the actor’s told BANG Showbiz: “I am interested in all this 3D stuff. If it could be filmed for 3D TV that would be fun, but it is all very expensive, so I don’t know how they’d do it.” He’s also previously expressed an interest in a multi-Doctor ep for the landmark year.

Meanwhile, he’s confirmed in the same interview that, after this year’s Christmas special has been filmed this autumn, filming won’t resume until next year. “How they’ll actually schedule it, I dont know,” he said. “All I know is we start in February.” This ties in with Steven Moffat’s recent comments that Series 7 will be “moving a bit later” in 2012.

Multi-Doctor would be great. 3D, I’m not so keen on because the vast majority of us don’t have 3D TVs. How about a feature-length ep?

Totally agree with you. I’m not that into 3D, but a feature-length episode, now that would be brilliant.

Yeah, I don’t like 3D either, mostly because it doesn’t work for me.

I still see red and blue, despite having glasses on, and I study the film so closely to see if it’s 3D that I actually miss the film and get a headache, so I’d rather they didn’t go in for the massive gimick that is, supposedly, 3D.
