David Warner is just the best. I used to be a Star Trek fan and his roles as Chancellor Gorkon of the Klingon Empire and the Cardassian Gul Madred, as well as the smaller role of the Federation Ambassador on Nimbus 3, are all very memorable and I seriously can’t wait to see him in Doctor Who.
A great casting choice, seriously.
He was great as Gorkon; pity he had to get killed off so early in the story. We also can’t forget a lot of his other genre roles, such as the triple role of Dillinger, Sark, and the MCP in “Tron” — his performances were at least as crucial as those of Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner. For the animated Batman series in the 90s, he provided the voice of Ras al Gul. In the not-so-great second installment of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle” series, he portrayed the scientist who invented the ooze. And, of course, he performed magnificently as Evil in Terry Gilliam’s “Time Bandits”. He’s an excellent actor who consistently delivers a fine performance, and it will be a great pleasure to see him on Who.
