Comic Con: Steven thinks film reboot is “silly” idea
Steven Moffat has reiterated that a future Doctor Who film would not be the “start from scratch” reboot speculated.
The showrunner told Airlock Alpha at Comic Con that the BBC would be “silly” to set up a different version of the TV show on the big screen. “It’s been claimed there would be a separate Doctor with a different continuity – of course there won’t,” he confirmed. “Everyone knows that’s silly. The BBC knows that it’s silly and so they are not going to do that.” He made similar comments in December last year.
Back in November, it was announced that David Yates would be directing a movie based on the series, however he later added that production won’t begin on it for “five or six years”. Matt Smith recently said that while he doesn’t “anticipate” he will still be the Doctor by then, he believes Steven Moffat should write it as he is “the best” for that job.

I hate it when I have to fully agree with Steven Moffat, but in this case, I do
Phew! Well, that’s a relief. For once I totally agree with the Moffinator. (The Moffinator…really?…I think I’ll just stick to saying Steven Moffat from now on.)
Wow! I completely agree with SM!
“It’s been claimed there would be a separate Doctor with a different continuity – of course there won’t,” – And yet, the BBC already allowed an alternative Doctor in the 1960’s with Peter Cushing! – So logically, if the BBC knows they could make money from a film reboot, I don’t see how they would not take the risk!
@Steve
Bit different, the show had only been going a few years back then.
The Peter Cushing films were, more or less, just remakes of existing Doctor Who stories to cash in on the popularity of the Daleks.
A reboot? What in the name of the Master could they possibly be thinking?!?
