Could there be another option called other aka vote for all :P
I’m always worried about this kind of vote. People can get quite heated about it and I’d hope those who vote here will be much more sensible about it.
We all have our favourite Doctor, it doesn’t matter in all truth who “wins”, they’re all the Doctor and to insult one is to essentially insult all.
I’m sure our community will rise above that though.
They were all great for their time. Modern incarnations like DT and MS are going to be the most popular at this time, because they’re still seen quite often. I’m sure if I had been born in the 60s, one of the first doctors would have been ‘my’ doctor. But I was born in the early 80s, and the show was not on the air in my childhood, really. My parents were, and still are fans of the show, so I saw the re-runs on sky, but I only became passionate about the show, post 2005.
Tennant is MY doctor. Though I do adore Matt Smith. It was hard choosing between them. But I had to pick one of them.
There’s no ‘best’ doctor, only those who’re still relevant, and those who – the fans of the time – still have a soft spot for.
In twenty years time, David will still be that for me, but who knows how ‘relevant’ he will be at that time to the show.
I actually could not possibly vote in something like this. Tom Baker was “my” Doctor, but I don’t really have a favorite. I love them all. I cannot in conscience pick any one, because that feels too much like betrayal to the others.
I only voted for the tenth Doctor because he was the first doctor I ever saw, my child hood hero. If I could I would vote for them all.
