Doctor Who film due “within 8 years”
A Doctor Who film will be made “within 8 years”, according to today’s developments.
Rumours of a cinematic adaptation have been circulating for years but were recently nipped in the bud – once again – by showrunner Steven Moffat who revealed that there are still no official plans to take the Time Lord to the big screen.
However, according to exposed emails released by Wikileaks, discussions regarding a movie version of the TV series have been ongoing between the BBC and Sony Pictures.
As the Telegraph reports, the Hollywood company have expressed “tremendous interest”, dating back to January 2014, in acquiring the rights for the brand with the show’s current production team feeling “pressure” to adhere to their demands. The latest update is that the BBC are developing an 8 year plan for the franchise – which was recently confirmed to be on air until “at least 2020″ – which will “certainly” include a film in the next 8 years.
Back in 2011, Harry Potter director David Yates was attached to a feature-length outing.

Believe it when I see it. Until then, the official line is the one I’ll follow.
Been There, Done That……. It’s not the first time a film has been attempted. I dare say it is not the last!!
