The BBC have today (Friday) confirmed that Jenna Coleman will be leaving Doctor Who this year.
The announcement comes after a week of fevered tabloid speculation which suggested that the Clara Oswald actress was bidding farewell to the TARDIS to take on the lead role as Queen Victoria in a major new ITV drama. While her fans remained hopefully that the rumours weren’t true, it’s now been made official that the impossible girl will be parting ways with the Doctor for the last time at some point during Series 9, which kicks off tomorrow on BBC One.
Exact details regarding Clara’s imminent departure are being kept tightly underwraps as viewers have been told that they’ll have to wait and see what her exit storyline will entail.
