official-jenna-to-leave-during-series-9

The BBC have today (Friday) confirmed that Jenna Coleman will be leaving Doctor Who this year.

The announcement comes after a week of fevered tabloid speculation which suggested that the Clara Oswald actress was bidding farewell to the TARDIS to take on the lead role as Queen Victoria in a major new ITV drama. While her fans remained hopefully that the rumours weren’t true, it’s now been made official that the impossible girl will be parting ways with the Doctor for the last time at some point during Series 9, which kicks off tomorrow on BBC One.

Exact details regarding Clara’s imminent departure are being kept tightly underwraps as viewers have been told that they’ll have to wait and see what her exit storyline will entail.

Are you sad to see Clara go? As Jenna herself has said, “it ain’t over ’til it’s over!”.

new-series-9-interviews

The countdown clock is ticking and the BBC has continued the pre-series buzz by releasing their official press interviews with Peter Capaldi, Jenna Coleman, Michelle Gomez and that other bloke called Steven Moffat.

As you can imagine, there’s lots to be said about this year’s series premiere, a “dark, terrifying and funny” two-parter which the Twelfth Doctor star promises will contain “some special surprises”, although remarkably they all manage to get through their questions without revealing anything too major. Which is so unlike them.

They’re all still worth a read, though, so be sure to check ‘em out! The new series kicks off with The Magician’s Apprentice on Saturday 19th September and you can watch the tantalising teaser trailer for the episode in question here. It’s going to be epic, we can tell!
