The Doctor is locked in the perfect prison while Amy, Rory and River Song are being hunted down across America by the FBI. With the help of new friend and FBI-insider Canton, they are reunited to share their memories. The world is occupied by an alien force that controls humanity through post-hypnotic suggestion, and no one can be trusted.

Our heroes embarked on an apollo mission tonight as Series 6 of Doctor Who continued, and there were shocks aplenty as their US adventure reached its thrilling conclusion…

Episode one’s cliffhanger saw us all holding our breath as Amy shared a life-changing revelation, and part two (as part two’s often do!) picked up from right where we left off, and from then on it was non stop action as Earth faced a threat from a terrifying force.

Three months later, the Doctor was locked up in the perfect prison and his friends were alone, terrified and on the run across America. It seemed that nothing or no one could break the Silence as they controlled humanity through post-hypnotic suggestion. Of course, the new series has only just begun, and with 5 other episodes to get through this spring, things were eventually wrapped up and the TARDIS team managed to save the day, aided – as one often is – by Neil Armstrong’s foot, and be back in time for tea.

The Day of the Moon has dawned, and as the sun doth set on the Doctor’s dapple in the desert, we want to know what you thought of the latest episode. Do you think it was a worthy conclusion to the opening two-parter, or do we need to speak to Houston about a problem? Did its momentous cliffhanger result in you screaming at the television? Leave your mark in the comments below (the good, the bad and the ugly) before you forget!

christopher-eccleston-says-hes-proud-of-his-series

Christopher Eccleston appeared on Graham Norton’s Radio 2 show today, and during the interview he looked back on his time as the Ninth Doctor and discussed his decision to step down after just one series.

“I’m very proud of what we did over those 13 episodes,” he said. “My intention was to make the show a success so that the next series could follow, so I’d done what I wanted to do.” When asked if he’d ever return, he said: “No, never bathe in the same river twice.”

Christopher has previously admitted that he “didn’t enjoy” the environment on set.

matt-karen-and-arthur-discuss-the-new-series

IGN have released new interviews with Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, in which the trio discuss what’s to come in Series 6.

Regarding the scale of the opening US two-parter, which concludes tonight, Matt said: “It broadens the scale and makes the show epic”, and Karen agreed: “The shots that we got from a helicopter, I just can’t believe that it’s British TV.” About the series as a whole, Arthur added: “The ambition has increased. Every episode feels like a movie”.

“One of the exciting things about this series is that we find out who River Song is, and what she means,” Matt teased. “The pay off’s really good, and I think people will be pleased about who she is. It’s mad. Basically Steven’s living out his male fantasies through Alex. He gives her the great entrances, and just makes her a smoking chick.”

Karen continued: “I just can’t wait for people to find out who she is so I can talk about it, because it’s just so good. It’s gonna affect Amy in ways that you can’t even imagine…”

and-the-most-memorable-wedding-day-goes-to

To celebrate the Royal Wedding, we opened a poll to find out which Doctor Who wedding will also go down in history!

The shortlist was made up of just some of the ceremonies to have taken place in the series in recent years, and it is with great pleasure that we reveal the winners as Amy and Rory! Their wedding in The Big Bang finished in first place with 54% of the final vote. Their special day had it all – laughs, surprises and embarrassing dancing, but unfortunately for Amy, there was to be no snogging in the shrubbery…

In 2nd place is Sarah Jane’s wedding to Peter Dalton with 24%, and, while Donna didn’t quite make it down the aisle, her wedding to Lance made it to lucky 3rd place with 10%!

4th place goes to Rhys and Gwen’s wedding (8%), which was chock-a-block with shocks, shape shifters and just a dash of retcon… well this is Torchwood we’re talking about! In at joint 5th/6th place with 2% is Stuart and Sarah’s wedding. Donna’s happily ever after (hurrah!) with Shaun reached 7th, and last but by no means is Jackie and Pete’s day.

Thanks to all who voted, and congratulations to Amy and Rory! Join us as we toast both our victorious happy couple, and, of course, the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge!

doctor-who-script-to-screen-competition-opens

Last month the BBC announced the once in a lifetime ‘Script to Screen’ Doctor Who competition, and now it has been officially opened!

The contest gives fans aged 9-11 the chance to write their very own mini-adventure for the Doctor, and the winning entry will be filmed and televised on a future episode of Doctor Who Confidential. The full terms and conditions, as well as learning resources, can be found on the BBC Learning website. The closing date is 13th June 2011.

“I’m delighted to support Script to Screen because I’m passionate about creative writing and believe it’s a skill to nurture,” Matt Smith commented. “It will be interesting to see what ideas the children come up with. I could finally be defeated by a new enemy, or be exiled to a distant galaxy. Who knows? And that’s the beauty of a child’s imagination!”

The winning script will be chosen by Steven Moffat (series showrunner) with Saul Nassé (Controller of BBC Learning), Piers Wenger and Beth Willis (series executive producers).
