Today is Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill’s final day of filming on Doctor Who.

It only seems like yesterday they were being introduced to us in The Eleventh Hour (which coincidentally is repeated tonight on BBC Three at 7pm…), but today they are stepping in front of the cameras as Amy and Rory for the last time.

Their final episode will air in the autumn, and they’ll bow out in “a final encounter with the Weeping Angels”.

To mark the end of an era, @KarenGillan2 tweeted: “Me and smith dawg. Wondering around set all nostalgic. Its a special day!”, and @RattyBurvil has also added: “last day today. I can hear a fat lady singing in the distance. Maybe it’s @KarenGillan2″. Steven Moffat’s also posted to say he’s “too sad, too sad” to be saying goodbye to the Ponds.

We would just like to wish both Karen and Arthur the very best of luck on their final day, and thank them for all their hard work. It’s been emotional! Feel free to share your favourite Karen and Arthur/Amy and Rory moments…

Amy and Rory were the best. But, if it’s time to go, remember what you’re leaving, remember the best.
They were and will always will be the best. No one can live to the standard that they set.
Good luck Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. You were the greatest and will never EVER be forgotten. I felt like I knew them in a way because both their characters and themselves were so in depth.
Good luck Pond’s. I wish you could come along for a longer time.

I am so sad that they’re leaving. I think Matt should tie them up somewhere :P so that they don’t go haha lol but they have been great companions. i just wish they were in the 50th Anniversary then after that they could go but sadly not.

Good luck to Karen who hopefully I will be meeting again at next months collectormania in Milton Keynes :)

I was sad yesterday because it was their final day, and I will be even sadder when I watch their last episode. It has been great to follow Karen and Arthur over the last couple of years of working on Doctor Who. Will miss them greatly. <3

Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill were amazing, I will be devastated to see them go :’(. At least they had a good run and we’ll still see them in Series 7.:)

Good riddance to terrible rubbish. I am sorry to see Arthur Darvill go but Amy dragged his character down! I hope the new companion will bring some chemistry back to the show.

Be sad to see them go, they’re both brilliant and work wonderfully with Smith’s Doctor; but of course change is central to Who, so I’m excited to see what happens next.
