    Wonderful!! He would be an AWESOME Master, if that’s what they’re going with!

    I hope he isn’t the Master as I want Benedict Cumberbatch to be him

    @Soph

    Much as I love Benedict Cumberbatch and think he would be great as the Master, he should be left just as Sherlock and not cross with Who.

    I’d like to see someone like Colin Firth take on the Master next, as it sounds like Johm Simm won’t be returning.

    I hope they give Dougray Scott a meaty roll. SM and RTD both tend to get great stars and underuse them.

    @Soph Benedict Cumberbatch? I think there are better actors out there to play The Master. If you want a seriously psychotic Master, Robert Carlisle is my choice.

    Cumberbatch would make a brilliant Master; he more than has the stuff for it, but I’d be surprised if he was cast, just because of his role in Moffat’s other show. I on’t see it happening, it’s just fans and the media trying to put it together because of the connection.

    Ooh, I like the idea of bringing in Colin Firth as the Master! Would definitely like to see that happen.

    I’m so excited to see Jenna in action.

    Why don’t you think John Simm won’t be returning? I thought he was quite keen when he last spoke about it. As much as I enjoy all the re-casting that goes on, I’d personally love to see Simm back as The Master, he’s become the definitive version for me. Can’t see The Master coming back any time soon though, especially not in another Chistmas ep.

    I’d love it if Viggo Mortensen would be willing to play the Master mind you I dunno if he knows much about Doctor Who but he’s definitely been one of the LOTR actors to have really shone and make a name for himself starring in Hidalgo, History of Violence just to name a few

    Benedict Cumberbatch would be last on my list to play The Master. If he was cast, it’d sever my links with Doctor Who for good.

    If John Simm didn’t want to come back or they wanted someone different to match Matt Smith, I’d be ok with that. Not Cumberbatch though, just please not him.

    He’s been saying on a regular basis now in interviews that he has no plans of returning.

    I would like to see Simm back in one final appearance for him to regenerate, but I think it’s only appropriate we have a new Master next time. John Simm is very much a mirror image of David Tennant, the same way Roger Delgado is to Jon Pertwee, so we ned the same for Matt Smith.

    True, but didn’t stop them using Ainley all the way through the 80s and four different Doctors. Doesn’t necessarily need to be re-cast. Though Simm would look odd playing against Matt Smith, I agree. Which makes me want to see it all the more!
