Neil Gaiman wins Hugo Award, teases new episode
Back in April we told you that Doctor Who was nominated in this year’s Hugo Awards and now we are bringing you the news that it’s only gone and won!
Neil Gaiman’s Series 6 adventure The Doctor’s Wife was given the Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form title at the ceremony, which took place at Chicon 7 in Chicago.
And there was more excitement in store, as the writer took to the stage for his acceptance speech…
During it he confirmed that he is currently writing another Doctor Who episode (he’s “on the third draft” in fact!) and thanks to io9’s investigations we have since learned that his script’s currently scheduled to be included as part of Series 7: Part 2 in 2013, but this may alter. The Doctor’s Wife was pushed back from Series 5 for budgetary reasons.
Congratulations to Neil for the win and we’ll look forward to what his new episode brings!
Series 7 continues on Saturday at 7:35pm on BBC One in Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.

i cant wait to see what his second doctor whos story is like as i loved his the doctors wive eipisode with the TARDIS being the doctors wive it was a excellent eipisode and enjoyable to watch so he shouldnt dissapoint again :)
Rumours are his episode will reintroduce the Classic Series Modansian or Telosian Cybermen, which would be fantastic if it turns out to be true.
The Parallel Earth Cybermen have always seemed a bit too clean and polished and not very menacing, just too robotic IMO. If Gaiman could capture the essence of the ’60s Cybermen then I for one would be thrilled, because that’s what we need – eerie and menacing Cybermen.
That would be pretty awesome — bringing back the Classic Cybermen. He’s a big-time fan himself, and worked very hard to get as many classic continuity references into “The Doctor’s Wife” as possible — and was disappointed when his reference to the mercury fluid link had to go, because it was the first bit of TARDIS tech that he knew the name of. (It serves as a MacGuffin in “The Daleks”.) How much you want to bet he gets it into the next one? ;-)
As far as robotic goes, though, remember their synthesized voices in “Tomb of the Cybermen”? 1960s speech synthesis. That was about as robotic as they ever sounded.
i like the classic doctor who cybermen they were allways my fave monsters in doctor who give me a cyberman over a dalek n e day but i must say i really like the silence for a monster now but its about time they brought back the real cybermen proper i think they did last year and the year before when we seen them at the end of big bang and the eipisode last year when the doctor goes back to craig and when rory damands anawer as to were his wive is in demons run there cyber letter C is no longer on there chest that lumic made for them in the series 2 series on the paralal world so i think we allready have seen the proper mondas cybermen allready :)
I hope Neil will come back again and write another fantastic episode as I have read all his novels and a fan of his as well. No surprise he has won an award he is an amazingly talented man.
