John Barrowman on 50th, “really upset” to miss it
John Barrowman’s admitted he is “really upset” to have not been asked back for the 50th anniversary special.
Although previously teasing he was “discussing things” to do with the landmark 3D episode, currently being filmed, he later took to Twitter to personally deny involvement. While fans try to piece together the evidence he has recently been speaking to TVLine to clarify a return is off the cards. “The Powers That Be don’t want Jack to be there,” he explained. “The bottom line is I was not asked.”
He continued: “I understand why. They want to move forward and they want to try some different things. They’re not making this special for the uber fan. They’re doing it for the wider audience. And if they’re going to bring a character back, it wouldn’t be just for the uber fan, it’d be for everybody watching. So perhaps that’s the thinking they have had.”
The “momentous” episode – expected to be feature length – will be shown on TV and in cinemas. David Tennant and Billie Piper will be back as the Tenth Doctor and Rose.

As much as I love John Barrowman, and the captain jack character, he needs to stop whinging about thw fact he’s not involved in the 50th anniversary special. He has to remember its Doctor Who’s anniversary and the show is about dr who, no torchwood’s anniversary. With the story as huge as it is going to be, SM cannot fit every companion into the story.
If we are going to have captain jack, then you might as well bring back martha, donna, wilf, christina, the jackson lake doctor, mickey and astrid.
At least JB can be grateful that he got his own series as captain jack.
Time to move forward
@pirko
Yes but Pirko, Jack was introduced to us in S1 before he joined Torchwood, anyway. Obviously we should have martha and donna back as they were full time companions so I don’t really see your point about them.
But that is what I am saying. Why should Jack be brought in as part of the 50th when he made occasional appearances whilst Donna, Martha (and even Wilf) were part of the series full time.
I am just saying he shouldnt be too upset that he’s not in the 50th show because he got to do more with his character after series 1
Jack’s a really popular character, though…
So is donna and the master and davros…but do u see them 3 actors whinging about not being in it
