Matt says the final “is just the start” of 50th drama
As Doctor Who builds towards its 50th birthday (199 days to go!) tensions will soon start hotting up for the Doctor as Matt Smith says “the finale is just the start” of the drama ahead.
The latest series will reach its “epic and huge” conclusion in The Name of the Doctor when the Doctor’s “greatest secret” will (apparently) be revealed. After that we’ll face a six month wait to prepare for the “momentous” landmark adventure which will mark the return of David Tennant and Billie Piper as the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler.
So it’s going to be a long summer but Matt has suggested the finale will give us plenty to think about… “This is going to be he biggest year in the history of the show,” he teased. “The final shows a pivotal moment in the Doctor’s life so it’s a complete game changer.”
Series 7’s penultimate episode Nightmare in Silver airs Saturday at 7pm on BBC One.

I’m hoping The Name of the Doctor will end with Eleven meeting Ten, and Ten saying his usual “What… What! WHAT!” before it goes to the end credits. I’d love for that to happen.
@Mia
That would be the absolute best way to do it. XD
Or…. reverse regeneration and saying “what?..what?… that isnt good…..”
@Simon
Now THAT would be cool!
@Mia
Thats the way to do it ;)
@Mia
Brilliant! True spirit of Doctor Who!
A 6 month wait between the end of the Series and the 50th Anniversary episode.
Hmm, not exactly Doctor Who taking over Television in 2013 Mr. Moffat.
@Mia
That would be brilliant! :)
I just cannot wait to see it and i am sure it will be fantastic!
@JC
My thoughts exactly. And just 10 episodes in the anniversary year?! I’d expected so much more!
Considering they were filming scenes together, (from what I understand), I highly doubt there’s going to be a reverse regeneration. (If I am later proven wrong, I stand corrected), but I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen… (I’m not ready to say goodbye to Eleven, I really like him!!)
The 10th Doctor is my Doctor, but there won’t be a reverse regeneration and I’m happy there won’t be. I’d actually support Matt Smith against David Tennant if that were the case.
Doctor Who moves forward, the Doctor dies and is re-born. That is the essence of the show and although that may never be easy, it’s what keeps the show going.
I read some VERY spoiler-filled comments from John Hurt today about what part he’ll be playing in the 50th Anniversary. I still don’t understand fully, but what he said was very intriquing.
