Entries from September 2014
We’re about to say goodbye to September but before it disappears into the cosmos for another year, there’s just enough time to welcome its Fan of the Month!
The latest Whovian to be flying the flag for fans around the globe is Suzanne, aged 49 3/4, from Florida, USA.
Suzanne described herself as a “crazy old lady Whovian” and put herself forward for the title because she thinks it’s time the world knew about her devotion to the Doctor. “Being a nerd is finally cool,” she said.
Read Suzanne’s full profile here and check back soon for our October applications.
Fan of the Month has been running since June 2008 and currently features over 70 profiles.

We’ve now reached the halfway point of Peter Capaldi’s debut series as the Twelfth Doctor and it’s safe to say that he’s definitely been keeping himself busy since our last series recap!
In Episode 4, Listen, we finally discovered what scares the grand old man of Time and Space when ghosts of past and future crowded into his life, and Clara realised just how dangerous allowing herself to get distracted can be when a date with new beau Danny Pink proved to be a timey-wimey affair which took them to the end of the universe itself…
Next up, Doctor Who met Ocean’s 11 as our heroes faced a Time Heist in the most dangerous bank in the cosmos. On the run from the terrifying guilt-detecting Teller, the TARDIS team fought their way past deadly security and came face to face with the powerful Ms Delphox who was harbouring an almighty secret of her own. They weren’t in it alone, though, as they invested in the help of Psi, a cyber-augmented gamer, and beautiful mutant human Saibra, and, according to the results of our Poll, the majority of you would enjoy having the latter’s shape-shifting ’superpower’!
In his most recent adventure, the Doctor went back to school as he became The Caretaker to overthrow a ploy from robot Skovox Blitzer to destroy all humanity. Two worlds collided for Clara Oswald as her best friend met her boyfriend and it wasn’t long before tensions reached boiling point. Meanwhile, Missy returned to add another cog to our wheel of speculation…
Feel free to share your own highlights and low points of the series so far in the comments…

The final UK rating for Time Heist has been revealed.
The consolidated figure for Peter Capaldi’s fifth outing as the Twelfth Doctor is 6.99 million. A considerable rise from its initial overnight of 4.93 million, the final figure includes those who recorded the episode and watched it within the first week of its BBC One transmission.
It’s another impressive turn out for the Time Lord, however it also marks the first time the show has dipped under 7 million since Nightmare in Silver in 2013 (6.64 million).

Two worlds collided for companion Clara Oswald, who has thus far been doing a pretty good job at juggling her attention between her best friend and boyfriend. The truth was revealed to Danny Pink who joined forces with Team TARDIS to save the school from alien excursion.
So, what did you think of the Doctor’s transformation into The Caretaker? Coal Hill is safe and our discussion is now open for you to share your thoughts about tonight’s adventure…

Former Doctor Who companion Katy Manning paid a visit to the show’s current home in Cardiff this week.
The actress, who travelled with Third Doctor Jon Pertwee as Jo Grant in the 70s, has been filming a guest role in Casualty which is made alongside Doctor Who at Roath Lock Studios.
Of course she couldn’t leave South Wales without a visit to the iconic blue box, where Peter Capaldi took a break from filming this year’s Christmas Special to familiarise her with her old home, which she says “always smells the same”.
Katy treated her Twitter followers to this brilliant photo of her and Peter recreating a classic shot from her own stint in the show. “I was completely lost in the moment,” she tweeted.
