The actress, of course, played the Tenth Doctor’s unlucky in love companion Martha Jones in Series 3 and 4, with a short but sweet stint in Torchwood in between, before returning alongside her fellow Children of Time to bid David Tennant adieu in The End of Time, Part Two. More recently she’s been seen as Amanita in Netflix’s original Sense8 drama, and she is soon to be reunited with Eve Myles in the upcoming vampire thriller Eat Local.

Freema Agyeman and Eve Myles will be getting their teeth into a new indie vampire thriller, it has been revealed.
“Eat Local” revolves around unwitting Essex boy Sebastian whose night of passion with a ravishing cougar turns into a fight for survival when she introduces him to a coven of hungry vampires. The Martha Jones and Gwen Cooper actresses are joined by other familiar Doctor Who faces – including Ruth Jones (Nikki in Adrift) and Annette Crosbie (Mrs Angelo in The Eleventh Hour) – in the movie, which is currently being filmed in Hertfordshire.
Produced by Evolution Pictures, the project is the directorial debut of actor Jason Flemyng and has been written by BAFTA nominated writer Danny King. Are you looking forward to seeing Freema and Eve in their latest roles? Let us know in the comments section below…

The actress, who portrayed the Doctor’s devoted companion Martha, is 35 and we hope she enjoys her celebrations.
Time and space proved to be a tricky ride for Miss Jones, as her unrequited love for the Doctor resulted in her handing in her duties as a permanent TARDIS resident. She’s now busy defending the Earth alongside her hubby Mickey Smith.

Today’s Freema Agyeman’s birthday so we’d like to wish her all the best as she turns 34!
The actress portrayed Martha Jones in Series 3 and Series 4 (although, of course, we first saw her as Adeola in Series 2). Martha kept herself busy by visiting Jack and the team in Series 2 of Torchwood and the last time we saw her she was working as a freelance alien hunter with her husband Mickey Smith. Freema recently confirmed she will not be returning for the 50th anniversary special.
We hope Freema enjoys her day and to mark it, we want to know your favourite Martha moments – share them along with your birthday messages for Freema in the comments!

Freema Agyeman has confirmed that she won’t be returning to Doctor Who for its 50th anniversary.
The actress who played companion Martha Jones clarified the news to CraveOnline. She responded to comments she made back in 2011, when she told the Independent she had “heard rumblings” about what was being planned… “I got misquoted saying that there were some rumblings going on about being involved,” she explained. “I’m doing two things for the 50th but nothing to do with being in the actual show.”
She continued: “It is in terms of conventions and interviews and things like that – we are all doing stuff to promote the 50th. We have to. It’s the Doctor Who family. We want to.”
She suggested that her return is off the cards because the show’s now in a different era. “It is a different thing now,” she said. “It moves on, it changes and that’s a good thing.”

Freema Agyeman has said that she has “heard rumblings” about what’s being planned for the 50th anniversary.
During a Q&A with the Independent recently, the Martha Jones actress was asked whether or not she would consider returning for the landmark year. “I’ve just heard rumblings and my agent was talking about it,” she said. “In terms of working with David and with Karen, we’ve all got the same sort of circle, so a mention of things, but nothing’s really been in set in stone.”
She explained: “If they want to do a big group thing, I can’t really envisage anybody in the Who family saying no. It’s quite a marked occasion, and a good opportunity to rekindle… For the fans, it is exciting for them as well, and everyone gets together.”
Steven Moffat recently said the plans for the 50th anniversary are “quite extensive”.
