Although nothing or no one specifically Doctor Who related has made the cut (which is fair enough, really, seeing as there was no series last year!), former companion Jenna Coleman has landed a nomination in the Drama Performance category for her royal portrayal in the ITV drama Victoria, while the show itself is in the running for Period Drama.
Voting is now open and the results will be revealed during the live ceremony on Wednesday 25th January on ITV.
Amidst this Doctor Who gap year comes a shard of light as Jenna Coleman returns to our screens in ITV’s brand new drama, Victoria, tonight (Sunday).
In her first post-Doctor Who role, the Clara Oswald actress – who bowed out of the TARDIS last year – takes on the guise of Queen Victoria as the 8-part series depicts the story of Her Majesty’s fascinating early years, taking us from her ascension to the throne aged just 18 through to her marriage to Prince Albert, played by Tom Hughes. It also stars familiar faces including Eve Myles and Tommy Knight.
Victoria starts tonight at 9pm on ITV and you can check out the trailer in the player below. Are you excited to see Jenna finally back on our screens? Let us know if you’ll be tuning in!

Jenna Coleman has dismissed ongoing rumours that she’ll be returning to Doctor Who as Clara Oswald in Series 10.
The actress, who bowed out as the impossible girl at the end of the last series, told Collider that no comeback is planned – “at least for a good while” – and affirmed that she “couldn’t have asked” for a better exit storyline. “Steve planned it for so long, and I think he did a great job,” she said. “It had been been in the works for a while, from Face the Raven to the epic finale of twists and turns, so you don’t want to unpick that it any way, really.”
She continued: “So for the foreseeable, I think Clara will remain broken down somewhere in time and space, trying to understand how to work the TARDIS with Ashildr! It’s been an incredible three series. It was such a unique time in my life and it has been truly amazing.”
Jenna will be back on our screens this autumn as Victoria in ITV’s ambitious 8-part drama.

Peter Capaldi dropped an intriguing teaser during a Doctor Who panel at Awesome Con earlier this week.
Discussing Clara Oswald’s exit at the end of Series 9, the Twelfth Doctor actor inadvertently revealed that he has just filmed a scene in which his former companion is still present, prompting inevitable speculation that Jenna Coleman will be back in Series 10.
However, filming on the next series hasn’t even started yet, which suggests that Peter was actually referring to Class.
The new Doctor Who spin off is currently being filmed with persistent rumours that the Doctor himself will be making a cameo. Set at Coal Hill School, where Clara was a teacher, a reference to the impossible girl would be fitting, however we’ll just have to wait and see what comes of Peter’s cryptic comments as it’s not due to hit our screens until the autumn.
The (very) longlist for this year’s TV Choice Awards has been revealed, with Doctor Who featured in three categories.
Firstly, the show itself is once again up for the Best Family Drama award, while Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are both in the running for prestigious Best Actor and Best Actress nominations for their roles as the Twelfth Doctor and Clara Oswald, respectively.
Be sure to vote here before voting on the longlist closes at midnight on Friday 3rd June 2016.
Please join us as we raise our glasses to wish both Jenna Coleman and Russell T Davies a very happy birthday!
The Clara Oswald actress, who bowed out as everybody’s favourite impossible girl at the end of the last series, is 30 today, while Russell T Davies, who revived the series back in 2003 and served as its showrunner from 2005 to 2010, turns 53.
We hope they both enjoy their respective celebrations and feel free to leave your own messages for them below.

Jenna Coleman has revealed that she made the right decision to leave Doctor Who as she admitted that “her time was up” at the end of Series 9.
The actress bowed out as the Doctor’s longest serving revived series companion, Clara Oswald, in this year’s finale, Hell Bent, and told Interview Magazine - where she’s named as one of their 16 faces to look out for in 2016 – that she “had to let go and move forward”. “It felt like a natural end,” she said. “It made sense, and it made sense in a story sense. So I was willing to stay that extra year to tell a good story.”
She continued: “I went to Peter’s house with Steven Moffat to watch my final episode, so it was lovely to enjoy it together. The goodbye had been in the works for so long, so to have it done on screen now is quite strange, but also exhilarating. It has been a mad and weird and wonderful part of my life for the last four years, but it now feels like the next chapter.”
Jenna will next be seen on our screens as Queen Victoria in ITV’s major new 8-part drama series, depicting the early life of our longest serving monarch, which is now being filmed.
