has-bill-potts-fate-already-been-sealed

Bill Potts hasn’t even made her official on screen debut yet (Friend from the Future notwithstanding…), but already fans are speculating about her departure.

It’s nothing personal, Pearl. We’re just weird like that.

We can sort of be forgiven in this instance, however, as her intriguing monologue in the recently released Series 10 trailer has definitely left us with cause for concern. She’ll step aboard the TARDIS to see the universe anew on Saturday 15th April, and she wouldn’t miss it for the world…

Even if it kills her. Now, Doctor Who fans are known for reading too much into things, but it looks like that’s exactly what Steven Moffat wants us to be doing. Is she foreshadowing the tragic events to come, or is it another momentous Moffat red herring to throw us all off the scent? Let us know what you think of these developments in the comments section below…

The BBC have released a brand new Doctor Who teaser to kick start their promotional campaign for Series 10.

The dramatic trailer doesn’t contain any footage from the upcoming adventures, however it does feature our new TARDIS trio – that’s Peter Capaldi, Pearl Mackie and Matt Lucas – walking ominously down a corridor towards a menagerie of impending doom. Naturally.

As Bill points out, she wouldn’t miss it for the world, and we’ll be able to join her on Saturday 15th April 2017.

Check out the teaser in the player below, and let us know what you think in the comments. What cryptic clues does it contain? And what secrets can you spot hidden on the shelves?

Pearl Mackie has responded to the recent news that her co-star Peter Capaldi will be stepping down as the Twelfth Doctor after one more series.

The actor will be bidding farewell to the TARDIS in this year’s Christmas Special after appearing alongside new companion Bill in Series 10.

The actress who plays her is featured as one of InStyle UK’s Rising Stars of 2017 and told them that she will be “so sad” to see him go.

“But I’m also so happy that I got to work with him,” she said. “He’s so generous actor and I am new to camera acting, so he’ll always check if I’m ok. He is very open to my opinions.”

She also revealed where she was when she found out that she’d won the part of the Time Lord’s coveted sidekick, as she reminisced: “I was at home with my housemate. The whole process was mad. It was like being in M15! Then my agent called me to tell me I got it and there was lots of tears. I had to call her back after, to check that it had actually happened!”

pearl-describes-bill-as-funny-and-vulnerable

Pearl Mackie has revealed a few more teasers about Bill’s personality in a recent interview with the Guardian.

The actress, who was announced as the Doctor’s brand new companion back in April, will make her official on screen debut in Series 10 next year, although she admitted that her life has already started to change. “I was in my friend’s shop the other day and this French guy comes in,” she said. “I told him, ‘I don’t work here, but someone will be with you in a minute.’ He says, ‘Non, non, non! You are Pearl Mackie, yes? Can I take your picture?’”

Despite Doctor Who being “the biggest part” she’s ever had, she added that she’s “having the time of her life” working alongside Peter Capaldi, as she explained: “The Doctor and Bill complement each other. Bill is funny and geeky and vulnerable. There is a goofiness to her and a big heart, but she gets things wrong and she has a temper. I knew her straightaway.”

Following its disappointing lack of precence at San Diego last month (there’s always next year…), it has been announced that the Whoniverse will be setting its sights on New York Comic Con instead!

Meanwhile, the stars of Class – that’s Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins and Vivian Oparah – will join its creator and writer Patrick Ness and executive producer Brian Minchin for their first ever panel to discuss the highly anticipated series which will finally be hitting our screens this autumn. The 8 part drama is set at Coal Hill School where dangers are breaking through the walls of time and space. There may be some familiar faces too…

The latest Doctor Who Magazine is about to materialise and they’re taking a trip into the future to introduce us to our brand new TARDIS team!

Although Series 10 won’t actually hit our screens until 2017 (as if you need reminding!), it’s business as usual for the cast and crew who are working their little socks off in Cardiff – and, this week, Spain – to bring the Twelfth Doctor’s third string of adventures to life. They will introduce new companion Bill, as played by Pearl Mackie, and welcome back Matt Lucas’ Nardole from The Husbands of River Song.

Inside DWM #502, outgoing showrunner Steven Moffat and casting director Andy Pryor discuss what fans can expect from this exciting new dynamic, plus there’s the usual array of in-depth features, competitions, comics and more. In addition, the issue – which is on sale this Thursday (28th July), priced £5.99 – comes with 3 free posters and 4 art cards.

As production on the brand new series continues, the Doctor Who cast and crew have temporarily bid adieu to sunny Cardiff to set up base in Spain instead.

Filming is this week taking place in Valencia where scenes are being shot for the second episode of Series 10, which has been written by Frank Cottrell-Boyce. Take a look at the picture below to see the Twelfth Doctor himself, Peter Capaldi, and his companion Bill, played by Pearl Mackie, getting with the times as they pose for a selfie outside the City of Arts and Science Museum.
