dreamlandThe BBC Press Office has today released a press release containing details of the brand new animated adventure, Dreamland, which is written by Phil Ford and due to air this Autumn.

The press release confirms that the series, which will be available to watch via the BBC’s Red Button service and on the official website in six segments, will also be transmitted in its entirety on CBBC on BBC Two and BBC HD.

The adventure, produced by Brighton-based animation company Littleloud, sees the Tenth Doctor arriving at the infamous alien hot spot, Roswell, where he stumbles upon a mysterious alien artefact during a visit to a local diner. The object leads him on a mission to rescue Rivesh Mantilax from the threat of the Viperox and the clutches of the American military…

“Dreamland is a remarkable project and I’m thrilled with it,” said executive producer Russell T Davies. ”Phil Ford is a wonderful writer and promises to send the Doctor into a whole new visual dimension.”

Meanwhile, BBC Drama’s Multiplatform Commissioner, Rosie Allimonos, said: “I’m extremely excited about Dreamland. It presents an amazing opportunity to expand the multiplatform storytelling potential of Doctor Who.”

She added: “To offer the ability to watch this brand new Doctor Who animation on so many different BBC platforms is a real treat for our audience.”

CBBC Controller, Richard Deverell, continued: “This is a wonderful addition to the already fantastic portfolio of CBBC programming. Having talent like Russell T Davies and Phil Ford at the helm of this project will no doubt ensure it captures the imagination of CBBC viewers.”

Dreamland stars David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, and Georgia Moffett provides the voice of the Doctor’s new animated companion, Cassie Rice. David Warner also guest-stars as the leader of the ruthless Viperox.

Yesterday, the official Doctor Who website launched its new Blog for the series, which aims to keep fans up to date with all the latest production news as the animation develops.

tenth_doctor_dwmIt has been confirmed that fans will be treated to a brand new Tenth Doctor animated adventure this Autumn!

Dreamland, written by Phil Ford and directed by Gary Russell, will be an exciting series made up of six episodes (when put together, the short segments will make up the length of a full story), and will transmit on BBC One as part of the channel’s afternoon CBBC segment. It’ll also be made available to watch again via the red button service, as well as on the programme’s official website!

The Doctor will, naturally, be played by David Tennant, and Georgia Moffett (seen in Series 4’s The Doctor’s Daughter as Jenny) will be providing the voice of his companion, Cassie Rice. Lisa Bowerman and David Warner are also set to appear.
