Asylum of the Daleks by Steven Moffat, Directed by Nick Hurran
Kidnapped by his oldest foe, the Doctor is forced on an impossible mission – to a place even the Daleks are too terrified to enter… the Asylum. A planetary prison confining the most terrifying and insane of their kind, the Doctor and the Ponds must find an escape route. But with Amy and Rory’s relationship in meltdown, and an army of mad Daleks closing in, it is up to the Doctor to save their lives, as well as the Pond’s marriage.

Dinosaurs on a Spaceship by Chris Chibnall, Directed by Saul Metzstein
An unmanned spaceship hurtles towards certain destruction – unless the Doctor can save it, and its impossible cargo… of dinosaurs! By his side a ragtag gang of adventurers; a big game hunter, an Egyptian Queen and a surprised member of the Pond family. But little does the Doctor know there is someone else onboard who will stop at nothing to keep hold of his precious, prehistoric cargo.

A Town Called Mercy – by Toby Whithouse, Directed by Saul Metzstein
The Doctor gets a Stetson (and a gun!), and finds himself the reluctant Sheriff of a Western town under siege by a relentless cyborg, who goes by the name of the Gunslinger. But who is he and what does he want? The answer seems to lie with the mysterious, Kahler-Jex, an alien doctor (yes another one!) whose initial appearance is hiding a dark secret.

Matt Smith has revealed that losing Amy Pond will come as “a real blow” for the Doctor.

Speaking to IGN at Comic Con, the actor said: “He’s done it before. He’s had many companions. For this Doctor, losing Amy Pond is a real blow. As an actor too, and as a friend, to not have Karen and Arthur around. I love them and we’ve become firm friends. But the show is about change and you have got to move on. Jenna is doing a fantastic job and I think everyone will love her.”

Watch the full the interview in the player below, in which Matt also discusses Episode 3 of the Series 7, entitled A Town Called Mercy, promising “everything you want out of a Western but with aliens”. Well, this is Doctor Who after all – it’s what we expect, right?

comic-con-two-series-7-episode-titles-confirmed

Two more Series 7 episode titles were revealed during the Doctor Who panel at Comic Con yesterday!

First up, Episode 2 of the new series is called Dinosaurs on a Spaceship. It’s written by Chris Chibnall and directed by Saul Metzstein. Funnily enough, the title of the episode was previously confirmed by the Daily Star back in May.

The episode is followed by A Town Called Mercy, penned by Toby Whithouse and also directed by Saul Metzstein.

According to a press release issued today, the dinosaur adventure required “one of the largest sets to date”. It guest stars Mark Williams as Rory’s father, Brian, and Rupert Graves as Riddell, “a big game hunter”. The Western-themed episode, meanwhile, was filmed on location in Spain. It co-stars Adrian Scarborough and Ben Browder.

“Dinosaurs On A Spaceship – what more do you need! The Doctor will come face to face with some of the most monstrous creatures evolution has ever produced, on some of the most monstrous sets we’ve ever built,” Steven Moffat said. “We took one look at Chris Chibnall’s brilliant script and said to ourselves ‘We’re going to need a bigger corridor’. And Toby Whithouse’s A Town Called Mercy takes us into a genre Doctor Who hasn’t attempted since the Sixties – it’s a full blooded Western. We knew from the start we need some serious location shooting for this one, and given the most iconic American setting imaginable, there was only one place to go – Spain.”

The new series is expected to begin on BBC One next month. In the opening episode, Asylum of the Daleks, the Doctor will face off every Dalek EVER – rather him than us!
