The Zygons, a race of shapeshifting aliens, have been living in secret among us on Earth, unknown and unseen – until now! When Osgood is kidnapped by a rogue gang of Zygons, the Doctor, Clara and UNIT must scatter across the world in a bid to set her free. But will they reach her in time, and can they stop an uprising before it’s too late?
We’re halfway through Series 9 but, if tonight’s episode is anything to go by, the drama is only just getting started. The Zygons were back with a vengeance… and Osgood was, too!
First introduced in the 1975 Fourth Doctor serial Terror of the Zygons (see what they did there?), the malevolent monsters made their 21st century debut in the 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor, which left all of us wondering how long it would take for them to show their faces again. Not very, as it turns out, as they returned to wreak more havoc for our heroes with UNIT caught right in the middle. To be honest, UNIT usually are.
The return of everybody’s favourite military organisation also marked the unexpected but anticipated comeback of Osgood, played by Ingrid Oliver, who was back to fight another day despite the fact she was mercilessly killed at the end of the last series. Classic Doctor Who. With twists, turns and a spectacular cliffhanger to boot, we just about survived The Zygon Invasion, so what did you think of the episode in question? Was it an enthralling escapade from start to end, or are you having trouble getting your head around its shape-shifting shenanigans? It’s Hallowe’en, but did Doctor Who deliver us a trick or a treat…?

Series 9 continues tonight and there’s a familiar foe coming to town as the Doctor and Clara prepare to face The Zygon Invasion.
Amidst the shape-shifting shenanigans, however, there’s also a great mystery afoot. The episode will also mark the return of UNIT, fronted, as ever, by Kate Stewart herself, who will also be joined by her amicable associate Osgood, which is where things get really interesting. That’s because it hasn’t even been a year since she was sensationally killed off by Missy, so how has she died and lived to tell the tale?
There are a manner of explanations, of course, but we’ll probably all be proven wrong. The Seventh Doctor-esque question marks on her lapel are apt, though, as her unexpected yet anticipated comeback has been one of the biggest surprises of the year. But whatever did happen to Osgood? Share your last minute theories by voting and commenting below! The answers – and probably more questions – will be revealed tonight at 8:15pm on BBC One.

It’s out with the new and in with the old next week as we bid farewell to Ashildr (but for how long?) to welcome back one of the most iconic foes in Doctor Who history.
The Zygons will be back with an almighty vengeance as Series 9 continues but their shape-shifting shenanigans won’t be the only cause for confusion. Osgood, who was killed off in Series 8, is also back, but who can be trusted?
The Zygon Invasion airs on BBC One on Saturday 31st October at the slightly earlier time of 8:15pm.

The latest Doctor Who Magazine goes on sale later this week and the cover features a familiar face as the issue looks ahead to her return in the new series.
Osgood will be reunited with the Doctor in Episodes 7 and 8 of Series 9, a Zygon two-parter written by Peter Harness, and her involvement is particularly intriguing because the character was controversially killed off by Missy at the end of the last series. Anything can happen in Doctor Who, of course, and her real life alter ego Ingrid Oliver has spilled the beans about what fans can expect from her third comeback.

Peter Harness has revealed that fans can look forward to a big cliffhanger during his upcoming Doctor Who two-parter.
It’s been confirmed that the Kill the Moon writer has put pen to paper for a double adventure which will be broadcast as Episodes 7 and 8 of Series 9. The episodes will mark the return of Osgood and the Zygons which Peter admitted is “a privilege”, albeit one that is ”a bit unbelievable”. “I think it’s quite an exciting story,” he told Digital Spy. “Unfortunately, I’ve got two fan favourites in my hands now, which can only set me up to disappoint people!”
He continued: “But it’s nice to do a cliffhanger, and I tried to write the biggest one I could.”
Filming for Series 9 is currently underway. It’s scheduled to air on BBC One in the autumn.

Osgood and the Zygons will be returning to Doctor Who, it has been confirmed today.
Ingrid Oliver will be reprising her role as the popular UNIT scientist, who was killed by Missy during the Series 8 finale, in Episodes 7 and 8 of the new series. Steven Moffat has teased that “anything can happen” as she’ll be back alongside the Zygons who were last seen in The Day of the Doctor, during which Osgood was cloned by the shape-shifting monsters. The two-parter, written by Peter Harness and directed by Daniel Nettheim, will also feature Kate Stewart.
“Osgood is back, fresh from her recent murder,” Steven teased. “We told you Osgood was dead, but she’s back in action. This time though, can the Doctor trust his number one fan?”
Ingrid added: “There is always that secret hope you’ll get the call asking you to come back, so to receive that call is unexpected but brilliant. I was so sure that Osgood was a gonner!”
Other guest stars for the episodes include Jaye Griffiths, Cleopatra Dickens, Sasha Dickens, Abhishek Singh, Todd Kramer, Jill Winternitz, Nicholas Asbury, Jack Parker and Aidan Cook.
