Amy’s proposition sparks more complaints
Amy Pond’s proposition at the end of Flesh and Stone has reportedly sparked yet more complaints.
According to the Daily Mail today, 43 viewers have complained about the scene, in which the character attempted to become more than just your average companion. The newspaper claims that her suggestive remarks were one step too far, as Mediawatch UK’s Vivienne Pattison explains: “I have to say the scene was slightly out of place in a children’s programme.”
The report quotes a BBC spokesperson as saying: “Millions of Doctor Who fans watched and enjoyed last Saturday’s episode, including the lighthearted and humorous scene in which Amy kissed the Doctor.”

Completely right, I was just making sure certain people, including myself, weren’t rediculed over their opinion.
As offensive as last Saturday’s episode may or may not have been, this may be forgotten about by the end of Saturday’s episode, but everyone should reserve the right to think what they think, that’s all I wanted and need to say really.
um, i dont think it was inapropiate….. coz, older people found it funny, and little kids didn’t know what it ment. whrn your six, you think kissing is disgusting.
Get a lyffeee im fifteen and ive watched doctor who since i was about nine years old. i thought it was funny nd old grannys shouldent be complaining!!
I’m so tempted to keep replying, lol………but at the same time, I think this conversation is pretty much over. By tomorrow, we’ll have a lot more to talk about.
I believe they did an excellent job of providing a bit of comedy relief and at the same time showing what the doctor is all about. Young children will have no idea what the sexual language means – for them the scene will be a matter of “Eww they kissed!!!”. Obviously, teenagers will see the scene and find it hilarious, and a lot of adults will find the scene amusing too.
On another hand, it does a good job of desexualizing the Doctor for the audience – the scene depicts Amy giving into a very human desire, with the Doctor resisting her advances. This shows him quite rightly to be above the whole situation, and serves to further distance him from the human race in the series.
I see this as rather an emotional stand-point for the Doctor as there has been talk over “who has been the more ‘active’ companion.” and to not give in and say “NO!” that is wrong is showing that you have to think of others and that if you KNOW that something will not be long term or something will not work out then it should not happen as the other person shall be hurt…
and it also is reasonably funny because really…who would’ve expected that
now i have only been watching for the past 5 years and i was never under the idea that the show was strictly a childrens show, now if he had jumped into bed with her than ok complain, but realy come onthe show has consistantly had elements for both children and adults, past that the argument should have been done after ep 6 by what the Doctor was trying to do. the argument is pointless and counter productive, grow up and get over to those that were so put off by it
