eve-reflects-on-torchwood-journey-global-success

Eve Myles has been reflecting on Torchwood’s journey from cult show to global phenomenon in a new interview with Red Carpet News TV saying its progression was “unbelievable”.

The actress, who’s known to fans as Gwen Cooper, admitted the success of the series took all involved by surprise – the Doctor Who spin off began its life on BBC Three then moved to BBC One where it attracted 7 million viewers for its third series. “It’s just a big bold sexy fun show and people really took it to their hearts and we appreciate that,” she said.

She explained: “If we had thought for one second at the read through on the first day it would become this huge beast, I don’t know how any of us would have reacted. We had no idea how this would happen. We’ve been off air for 3 years now but it is still so alive.”

Looking to its future she said: “All I’ll say is that when they call John and I will be there.”

eve-keeping-fingers-crossed-for-new-torchwood

Eve Myles has revealed she is keeping her “fingers crossed” that Torchwood will be picked up for another series.

The show which first aired in 2006 has been off our screens since September 2011 when its fourth series – the US based 10 part story Miracle Day – ended to a mixed response.

Since then, the future of Jack and Gwen has been in doubt as its creator Russell T Davies has admitted that he is “not working on” on any new adventures for the forseeable.

“We have no idea,” Eve told BBC Breakfast this week. “Although I fly off to Australia to do a signing tomorrow so it’s still alive and all the fans are still so loyal and passionate.”

The star previously called for a full-length movie to “draw a line under” the franchise.

eve-says-gwens-character-has-a-wonderful-mix

In a new interview with Radio Times Eve Myles briefly talks about what she enjoys most about playing the part of Gwen Cooper in Torchwood.

“She’s a full-on action hero, and I get to do all that fun stuff because I do all my own stunts,” she explains. “I also get to do great domestic scenes, because I am a married woman with a baby. So I get to save the world and be the girl next door. So the mix there is wonderful.” She also reveals she’d love to be in Sherlock, describing the series as “really hot”.

Eve has called for a Torchwood movie next year “to draw a line under” the franchise.
