Speaking on The Paul O’Grady show earlier this evening, Meera Syal confirmed that she will be appearing in the upcoming fifth series of Doctor Who, however she managed to remain tight-lipped about who she’ll be playing.

The actress, who is best known for her roles in Holby City and The Kumars at No. 42, has landed a role in two episodes, presumably a two-parter, and told the host that she has just finished filming and had a fantastic time working alongside Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith.

The fifth series of Doctor Who is currently being filmed in and around Cardiff and is due to be transmitted from Easter 2010.
